Tips to keep your new Valentine's Day Jewelry safe

Valentine's Day is synonymous with giving the gift of jewelry- diamonds, gold, silver, and heart-shaped gems are the most popular of the jewelry items gifted as a sign of love and devotion. Here are a few tips on how to protect those shiny new presents for years to come.

1 - Don't keep your jewelry in jewelry boxes or dresser drawers!

These common place are the first place a thief will look! Store your jewelry in a safe that is fire resistant, UL rated, tool resistant, and bolted to the structure

2 - Have your jewelry appraised

It's never too soon! The best practice for insurance replacement purposes is to seek out a qualified appraiser. As soon as you appraise it, get it insured. Talk to us about how we can help.

3 - Don't put your jewelry in your pocket!

Wear it until you get home. If you put it in an empty pocket, you will always lose it!

4 - Sinks... let's talk about sinks

It doesn’t matter what you have to clean- don't put your jewelry on the side of the sink. If you don't accidentally knock it down the drain, you might forget it.

5 - Know who has access to your safe

Unfortunately, the majority of disappearing jewelry isn't some cat burglaring stranger breaking into your home while you're out of the night. Most of the time, it's someone you know very well who might even have access to your safe. Keep a mental rolodex of everyone who might have access to your special wares, you never know when you might need it.
